Couple of days ago I saw A wealthy looking man buying vegetables from a street vendor. The wealthy man bargained to the point that people around him got annoyed and even willing to pay for him. This particular bargain wasn’t a play of wit, instead was extortion from a poor man. Wealthy looking man got into his car and was happy about 5 rupees.
I was a shocked. Now at a time of economic uncertainty(corona virus lock down) it was apparent who was in need of that 5 rupees.
“Sir, saw the worthless rich guy?” Vendor said playfully. I returned smile.
The Worth of money should never surplus self worth. Its okay to be stingy but not okay to be cheep to an extent that people curse you!

I understand that saving money for a Rainey day is one of the best thing to do and I’m a guy who is pro-saving. But I don’t see the point of bargaining with a person, who 100 fold’s poorer, for half an hour , to save 5 rupees.
Bargaining is powerful skill to have. And with power comes responsibility. The skill should be used to get The Best of deals by keeping clear ethical boundaries in check.
Here the Idea is to say that saving should not be an exchange of your self worth for two rupees. When it does happen its being enslaved.
I have realise saving a one rupee does not make one rich but being mindful about Spending does. Being cheep does not make for a life better but spending in and on right things does.
We all realise that money is valuable asset but its not our master. A thought that ill write down today in my memory slate to be read and shared.
